The walled gardens were first laid out in the 1780s and during the past 25 years they have been brought back into full organic production, certified by the Soil Association.
We grow a wide and diverse range of vegetables,
some fruit, cut flowers and herbs within its sheltered
2 acres, 3 polytunnels and 20 metre glass house.
It is an intensive small scale ‘closed’ system and we
operate on a 5 year rotation utilising green manures
and home-made compost to maintain the soil’s
fertility.
Cut flowers and a plant stall of hardy perennials and
herbs add to the produce sold in our on site farm
shop (open from June to December). Our small orchard provides apple juice, and
there is a freezer full of local organic meat and
eggs, alongside Penpont honey, jams & chutneys.
